La enfermedad de Perthes afecta a la cadera, esta consiste en una necrosis isquémica de la epífisis femoral proximal de etiología desconocida. Aparece principalmente durante la primera etapa de la vida, afectando mayoritariamente en la etapa adolescente siendo los niños los más afectados. Además, suele darse de forma unilateral aunque también existen casos de presentación bilateral. Quienes presentan dicha enfermedad tienen dolor y disminución del rango articular, entre otros. Como tratamientos para el alivio y mejora de estos síntomas, existe el tratamiento conservador con fisioterapia y uso de órtesis y el quirúrgico mediante técnicas tales como la osteotomía.
